a) "BOTH of the victims ignore it, as long as the MAIN combatant wants to", b) "BOTH of the victims can ignore it, as long as they BOTH want to", or c) "BOTH of the victims ignore it, as long as EITHER of them wants to". Combat isn't over BY CHOICE until the main combatant declares that he is running away - the helper has no say. On the other hand, combat can be ended PER FORCE by a helper with the right items or powers - a wizard can charm a monster, a cleric can say "booga, booga" to the wannabe vampire, a helper can make himself female* in a fight against the amazon or make himself a thief* in a fight against the lawyer. All of these can end the combat without the consent of the main combatant. So, my sense would be that the helper can END the fight (that is, can make the monster leave) but cannot unilaterally LEAVE the fight himself. In the case of the Stoned Golem, where you "wave, walk past, and let him keep his treasure" it seems to me that the helper waving is not making the monster leave, rather it is the munchkin seeking to leave, and if the main combatant still wants that treasure then there would be no effect. Of course, it has been ruled that if the Stoned Golem were just one monster in a multi-monster fight, then in COULD be dismissed while the combat continued. So...I don't know. Good question, let's wait for the official ruling. *Not in the sense of playing a card from the hand, since it is not his turn. But he could, for example, curse himself to change sex or class, etc. Last edited by Kirt; 11-13-2010 at 02:02 PM. |
