Setup question: 2 or 4?

We have several sets of Munchkin and recently my girlfriend bought a new set so she can recruit new players (hee hee). But she noted something. In the rules of the set she bought, it says to deal FOUR cards from each deck of doors and treasures to each player. In the rules I have for the regular set and BITES it says to deal TWO.

So I'm wondering if there's some typo stuff here or something else? Is it dependent on what set you play? Clarification please. And sorry, I searched for this in errata and couldn't find it.

A rule that was optional in the past has become the default as of the newest printing.

What happened is that with the 19th printing of the Fantasy Munchkin all the games have gone throug a slightly revision of the rules. Some rules have changed, some cards have different text (for clarification or because the rules in them have really changed).
