Default discarding big items

let's supose, I hold a Huge Rock in my hands and get a Swiss Army Polearm as a treasure. I don't have any other items. One of my opponents has a Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment and can't hold another big item. Another oponent has his hands full and doesn't want to trade with me even for free, cause he doesn't want to hold that Huge Rock.
According to the rules:
Quote:
You may carry any number of small items, but only one Big one. You may not simply discard one Big item to play another; you must sell it, trade it, lose it to a Curse or Bad Stuff, or discard it to power a Class or Race ability.
Dwarves are an exception. They can carry any number of Big items. If you stop being a Dwarf and you have more than one Big item, you must immediately get rid of all but one. If it’s your turn, you can sell them. Otherwise, you must give them to the lowest-Level player(s) who can carry them! If any Big items are still left over, discard them.
So my other opponent states, i can't discard that Huge Rock and lose it due to any condition, according to the rules, so I have no chance to equip the Swiss Army Polearm. Is he correct?
I can see the reason in those rullings, if someone wants that rock... But for what reason can't i just throw it away, while noone wants it?

Because that's the rules of the game. That's the whole point of allowing you to only carry one Big Item.

That's also one of the moments where a Curse! can be benefical for you, and you should play one on yourself, if you can.

And you can sell the Rock to ged rid of it, if you have 1000 gp of other Itens

Because you can't just discard Items for no reason. It's in the rules.

In addition to what Bone said, you can also discard it to power a Class or Race ability.

yeah, i see the rules, but munchkin is not a munchkin if he fights with that rock, while having the opportunity to wield a good old Swiss Army Polearm...
and i can't sell because i have no other items... or discard them, because i have no race or class...
those are rules, but they are just ridiculous. why can ex-dwarf discard items, but i can't? why can he force people take his junk, but i can't?... what's the difference?...
well, i know, what the rules are and i can live with them, just wanted you to comment and maybe revise tham somehow?...
well if that's the final answer, let it be that way...

The ex-Dwarf can do it because that's in the rules, too. And since you've declared you can live with it, I'm going to assume I can now close this thread and move on.

The difference is that the now ex-Dwarf is carrying extra Big items, not just one Big item he doesn't want.
