I actually really like that idea... damage as a function of skill, by placing an inherent penalty on high damage to the chance to hit. It actually summarizes a lot of issues very neatly. For instance, in That Other Game, hit location is pretty well a narrative assumption made by the damage roll. This would serve to moderate that sort of mechanic.
I wonder what other checks can be tied together so that one result modifies another? |
