A pie gets tossed into combat giving a +2 to either side, +4 if tossed by an orc. But halflings may eat it and go up a level.
If the halfling in question is level 9 and can't go up the level, can he still eat the pie? |

EDIT: You probably can't. The FAQ's important note about Level 9 says that you can't play a card or use an ability that would give you a level at all. Last edited by sir_pudding; 09-06-2010 at 03:21 PM. |

Can halflings eat the tasty pie in the Dungeon of Mandatory Murder to give their combat a +10 rather than a +2?

It's not a GUAL. The Dungeon of Mandatory Murder is specific and says GUALs, not "cards that would give you a Level."

MM: Can you verify the ruling in the original situation though? Is the halfling prevented from "eating the pie" since he can't receive the level?

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes! The Halfling is prevented from eating the Tasty Pie. I would think that the FAQ's statement was clear on this that I didn't need to confirm anything. A Halfling, however, is not ever prevented from using it as the combat bonus-giving one-shot Item that it is, so a Level 9 Halfling can always use it for its primary purpose. . .
