If I have a steed or a ship in play and draw a new one can I discard the original and put the new one in play?

Steeds and Ships follow all normal Item rules, so you can't just discard them because you want to. You can discard a Steed/Ship to power an ability, lose it to a Curse or Trap, sell it to buy a Level, Trade it, or discard it before rolling to Run Away if the Steed/Ship gives you a penalty.

No, he means carried. The game does not have "backpack" as an official term, so please do not use it so as not to confuse people who might not know what you are referring to, since, as I said, it's not an official game term.
Aside from the fact that Steeds and Ships have a specific rule which says you may only have one, normally, an Item is an Item, regardless of which deck it came from, so your statement about not being able to carry an Item (that is not a Steed or Ship, if such a thing were to exist) that came from the door deck is incorrect. |

I am waiting for the new reprints of Booty before I get them, but I have this question...
Can you have a Steed AND a Ship at the same time? |
