Sounds reasonable to me. This is annoying, but not particularly crippling - after all most of the people you interact with either really *are* strangers, or are friends who know you have this problem and presumably don't react too negatively to it. It's not going to give you any worse social penalties than, say, mild Shyness. Indeed most of the effect might even be causing mild shyness.
