It is worth mentioning that several fans have made different ways to track your level, and we've got a good selection of those on the Munchkin Resources page.

I personally like using pawns on a board that I created a few years back. There's a higher-resolution version without the Epic track here that's calibrated to be 14 inches square. I have a few of these that I got printed and cold-laminated at the local copy shop; it was quite affordable. The counters on our Resources page are smaller, but they're one-per-player sheets.
