there's a card that says "we're all friends here," where the person losing the fight has to choose a helper. the person nominated can either help (with their levels and items) without reward or let the original person choose an item they have in play to use.
i was wondering though, who gets to choose how the helper "helps out"? the original munchkin or the helper?? |

If you mean who chooses whether the player joins the combat or gives over an Item, then it's the player who was targeted by We're All Friends Here.

Is this card playable once or does it stay in game?
We're discussing this in the middle of a game right now. |

Please remember that the default play for cards that do not fall under some specific sort of classification have a real simple default mechanic: Play the card; deal with its effects; discard the card. This card is a Door card in Bites!, it does not fall under any specific classification, so you play it, do what it says, and then discard it.
