Besides, being overblown, badass, and showing off, is part of the DF fun.

I'm suddenly remained of my old AD&D2 game back in the 1990s. My wife's character, a thief, hired an NPC guard who was basically a streltsy, complete with large arquebus and an even larger bardiche used as a musket rest. Fun times, fun times.

I don't know why, but this gives me the image of a pirate as a swashbuckler/bard without much in the way of spells, but with Terror and Rapier Wit.

Maybe an 'aquatic' lens for the existing templates would be the way to go after all...

As far as I'm concerned the DF series should hammer away at "kewl" things like ninjas and pirates. I think a book about the high seas would be really good for a DF campaign because pirate stories have treasure maps, loot and other pirates following the party to get the treasure too. Treasure Island is a good book for adventure ideas and the movie the Goonies has many ideas for tricks and traps for adventures. A sailing adventure is often fun as there are many hazards along the way and then you can go to an island with strange creatures as you look for treasure. Sinbad has many ideas too. So for me, I would really like a book about High Seas DF.
Other cool topics are Elder Things, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, dark temples and drow er... I mean shadow elves. |

I'd rather see them get a book of their own, separate from the DF series.
