Our group will always help first second and third time players in remembering. But once you hit game four if you don't catch it by the next players kick down the door phase or if too much has been discarded (or whatever) it's too late.

If he does not and discards an Item (here the boots themselves) then he's actually breaking the rules by discarding an Item voluntarily. Something which is not allowed.

Now I wonder if not mentioning that someone is breaking the rules, is in itself breaking the rules ?!


So, if I knew someone has the boots, gets a curse and tries to discard them, _I_ would point out that he's not allowed to do so.

This case might be slightly different lol.
