This might be pushing the envelope, but could Professor sidekick's ability to let you use any item as if you were that class (IIRC, don't have the card near me) be used to gain a better bonus for a variable bonus item? For instance, there's a helmet that says +2 (+3 for psychics). Could Professor teach you how to use it as a psychic for a +3 bonus?

I'm not even sure you're in the envelope. The Professor Sidekick allows you to use an Item you are prohibited from using, and says nothing about giving you better bonuses from Items you can use.

Yeah, retroactively figured as much. It was one of those ideas that sounds bad when you speak it out loud. I think I might've mashed it up with the way Cheat! works in MQ. Anyways, no loss - issue never came up, but I saw the card, and had Professor, so I got into some wild speculation. Anyways, lost by far more then +1. :D
