This isn't really a disadvantage relative to tracks, though, since tracks will do tear these things up as well.

Wouldn't the off-road speed actually be better then the on-road speed? The screws need soft-ish stuff to dig into a little bit. The articles I came up with said the screw didn't work well on hard-packed stuff or sand, but needed something like mud or clay to get good purchase.
