I'm tied with the Monster

Hello Fellow Munchkins!
I have a question about combat and being in a draw with the monster.

In the case of a tie between my level (+ bonuses, if any) and a monster's level, who wins? If I'm level 5 and the monster is level 5, (and I'm not a warrior) do you treat it as a defeat to me, or the monster?

I thought it was a good question to be answered, though it makes me think that a tie results in my loosing, as the Warrior card states in a tie you win. Which makes me think if you're not a warrior and you tie, you lose.
