Probably also worth adding close combat (braodsword) for good measure. Also they did another video on the subject http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p7anaiPo7o. I'm really tempted to take up messer now.

Medieval European Martial Arts styles are as complex and complete like the oriental one.

Armed and unarmed ones.
In and out of armor.

They are overlooked often by RPG books.

Very good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC5FIyfI8TA

They actually have four up, cats, though the one you linked is a correction to their first one. I've trained messer with them in real life; I've booked them to do hands on seminars on four or so occasions now. It's a good art. Their video shot in a garage was done on a cold February night, and they were really trying to compete for space with the camera, so it looks kind of constrained. Gladiatores (the guys who did the video linked above this response) also did one on messer, with the weapon showing up in messer and buckler within another video.

GURPS does a better with historical European styles than most games in my view.

With the messer clip, I notice the style seems pretty similar to dussack techniques I've trained in. Perhaps you could get some additional ideas from some of the dussack sources like Joachim Meyer.

I wondered about that myself, but I haven't had a chance to compare the style in the book to the clip

Mac, you can train messer using the dussak; that appears to be what the dussack was all about.
