Hello,
I, and my group, have many discutions about the correct interpretation of How feint works? on Fourth Edition. The discution there is in two points: Feint is a maneuver that can be used on same turn (feint + attack); or I need make feint in a turn, receive the foe's attack, and then, on my next turn, make a attack with feint. The explication on Basic Set or Martial Arts is dubious, allowing two, or more, interpretations. So I ask the opinion of You to resolve it. I thank so much already the attention. |

If, as usually is the case, you have only one attack per turn then it goes like this: Turn 1: Feint, opponent attacks. Turn 2: Attack, benefiting from the effects of your feint on the previous turn. If you have two or more attacks, you can substitute one of your attacks for a feint, so it goes like this: Turn 1: Feint, Attack. Opponent attacks. Generally, a feint substitutes for an attack on a like for like basis. |

I thank You by the answer.
So is what I fear.... Sincerely, I prefer the feint on third edition. Feint is very useless on this way. Thank You again and bye. |

If his GM handles it like one of mine did, then the opponent knows he was feinted, and runs away if you did well on the feint.

Feint is very useful, specially if you have the technique from Martial Arts that gives you +5.
Finta é bem útil, ainda mais se você tem a técnica do Martial Arts que lhe dá +5. |

Yeah, it's pretty handy. It seems a little weird, though, feinting then recieving an attack.
I had an unused houserule jotted down in my notes that basically stated if you critically succede on a feint as an attack option, your opponent has a penalty to his upcoming attack, as you've interrupted his assault in some way. No mention of what penalty I thought of at the time, just some extra notes opening up to success by 5 or more, or the possibility of the opponent taking some kind of additional check. None of these were ever used, but I figured this would be a good thread for them. M. |
