Instant Wall - Can I play this on someone to force them to escape from a battle I don't want them to be able to win?

No. You can not use a card that allows for automatic escape like this. There are cards which force people to Run Away.

Sorry for all the extra work I created you... :(
Follow up question to this - let's say someone is in a battle I don't want them to win. I trick them into agreeing to let me help (say, play a bunch of monster cards/enhancers, then volunteer to help for a single treasure or such). If I play the Instant Wall at the point they agree to let me help, can I force us both to get away without fighting/winning? |

It's not your turn, not your combat, so you don't get to decide when it's time to Run Away. Only when the players in combat are Running Away can that card be played.

Wow,
Thanks for the clearafication on that one Munchkin man, That changes my whole play style because I was quite fond of occasionally "Helping" someone in a battle then using such card or just "running" away in general leaving the player to fight 2 or 3 monsters by themselves. But Now I know I cannot do this. |
