Default [OOC] DF Shadowyrm -- Real-Time (Yahoo/MSN/Skype) Playtesters Requested

As my Dungeon Fantasy one-shot adventure Shadowyrm draws near to completion, I'm seeking four or five play testers to take take part in a play-by-post version of the game that includes one or two real-time sessions via a voice-chat program. No webcam is needed, just a microphone and a voice-chat program.

I'll be happy to give everyone who participates credit as play testers in any online or PDF version of the dungeon I produce. :)

Personally, I prefer to use Yahoo Instant Messenger. I'd have to install Skype, a program that I'm not very fond of using.

There are a number of virtual tabletop programs (RPTools, Maptools, OpenRPG, Fantasy Grounds, etc.). However, not everyone has them and however nice they are, they still add a layer of complication. I'd like this to be as quick and simple as possible. No need for virtual dice even -- we can roll our own on our tables at home, which saves considerable time, I've found.

Ideally, I'd like to create characters here, then play-by-post as we set up a meeting for a real-time session. Please include time zone information when discussing times! For instance, I'm in the Central Standard (GMT -5) time zone currently.

The builds should be canonical and made entirely from strictly-interpreted rules-as-written found in the Basic Set, Magic and DF1-3; no Low-Tech, no Martial-Arts, no Pyramid, no noth'n else. Please, no "monkey" builds (parry monkeys, dodge monkeys, disarm monkeys, etc.) or builds that really take the rules to extremes. There's a fine line between being a good Munchkin and being abusive. I don't mind some min-maxing, but I need normal-ish characters to test the dungeon's balance. Characters with extreme builds that a large percentage of players aren't going to consider won't help.

It's highly doubtful that we can complete even half the dungeon in a single session of voice chat. Voice chat is nice, but it's still much slower than actual face-to-face tabletop play.

Wherever we make it, we'd then migrate back here to the play-by-post forums again. If everyone wanted to meet a second time via a voice-chat program, we could do so.

I'll include a written account of everything that happens so lurkers won't miss out.

If you'd like to participate, I'd suggest you stop reading the Shadowyrm thread now before I add the last two rooms and make some final adjustments to the existing ones. :)

Thanks for your consideration and I hope to meet you soon in the caverns of Shadowyrm!
