halfling run away atempt

How many times can i use the halfling's ability to discard a card in order to roll again if my attempt to run away wasn't successful?this came up the other day..my position was that a Halfling can discard as long as he has cards to discard.a friend of mine who wanted to see me dead insisted that i could use it only once.. :/

Halflings only get one second chance -- after that, the Bad Stuff hits you.
