Default Curious Malakim Question.

I know another "Purely hypothetical question" from someone who only plays rather erraticly.

How do you think most Archangels will feel, if a Malakims oaths are to get in the way of it doing its job, think they'd be more understanding or upset.

like for example

"Never strike a child" Honorable right

then suddenly he meets a group of prepubescent hellsworn. (This is an extreme case yes, but not QUITE as prepostrous as it might seem.)

or "never strkie a foe from behind" and then suddenly, a demon is running from him and gets away sith some sensitive info.

Well thoughts how archangels of various stripes would view it.

Laurence in particular, Im not sure which of two evils he'd prefer his servitors chose.

Malakim are meant to be living Honor. That means they more or less are their Oaths. If an ill-thought-out Oath was causing repeated problems, it's possible a Superior might remove it ... but it would almost never be at the Virtue's insistence.

David, in particular, would be likely to say "You made that bed; now you have to figure out how to lie in it."

That said, there are always creative ways. Sure, you swore to never strike a child ... but you can still restrain them, or Sing them to sleep, or intimidate them into fleeing (they don't know you can't hit them) and so on.

Never strike a foe from behind? Knock something down that's in front of him to block his escape. Or keep up and act as a spotter for those of your friends who can strike him.

Default Re: Curious Malakim Question.

In general, Malakim aren't that curious except to know how bad a boy you've been or if you are a demon...what? The title? Oh.

Ahem.

It is vitally important that Malakim be true to themselves. Which is why in general, their Superiors make sure they are not on Earth unsupervised. This makes sure they don't go postal and also allows for the odd suddenly tactically troubling oath.

That said, neither of your examples are preposterous. Didn't you see 'Dogma'?

Generally, the Malakite meeting the Kids from Hell would hold to his oaths, go to Heaven...and come right back down again with some friends. Or go upstairs with a lot of descriptions. Or sing the Song of Sleep. Or grab one and hold him as a meat shield.

But that isn't your question. It is how would his Superior react. Generally, they'd sigh, roll their eyes, know what kind of finky tools Malakim are, chide them for a lack of (imagination, speed, thoughtfulness of their oath selection), and train them or team them up so that it doesn't become an issue again.

They would prefer to deal with mission problems normally then having Judgment breath down their neck for Dissonant Malakim.

know this is an OLD thread

but just thought of something... having read "the last trumpet

(spoliers below)

Its occured to me if we go with the worste case scenariao of Khalid, the "Demon Prince of Cruelty" Think that Malakim formerly in his service who said to their new archangel "I have lost my faith. Would get a shoulder to cry on and maybe an islamic specific oath that they could no longer carry out with true joy or vigor, removed.

(though, even I'll add, that Behaviours ASSOCIATED WITH Islam, but not actual rituals of it, would probaly get a sholder to cry on e.g. Im talking about "Preach the koran to 20 people, at least once a month" or "Punish anyone who blasphemys against islam" not "always grow a beard" "never use a male vessel" "never eat pork"
