Did I stat this out correctly? The advantage is intended to simulate a powerful slam attack that can throw a target a fair distance but deals the same amount of damage as a normal melee attack would.
Slam Power Attack (-60% + 100%), [5/level]: Innate Crushing Attack 5d+1 (Double Knockback, +20%; Melee Attack (ST-Based) 1, -25%; Only ST Wounds, -40%; Cannot Parry -5%, Cost FP 2, -10% ) + 100% ST-Based [20] Notes: Cinematic Slam Attack, intended to cause significantly more knockback that a normal melee attack would provide without increasing the damage dealt to the target model. The attack only inflicts ST based thrusting damage, which is not included in the knockback calculations. The 5d6+1 Crushing is only used to determine knockback. Alternate Rule for Double Knockback: Double basic damage when calculating knockback distance, rather than doubling the knockback distance. |

Slam Power Attack: Innate Attack 2d Crushing (Double Knockback +20%, Follow-Up to Normal Slam -0%, No Wounding -50%) [7/Level]. Notes: Pretty straightforward; you run into people, they blow backward and go down, with normal Slam damage for everybody. I left off the FP cost, but they won't want to overuse this one unless they have a lot of rigid DR. Last edited by Gold & Appel Inc; 09-30-2010 at 09:53 PM. |

The problem with doing link is that it means either you can't do a normal melee attack without doing this (and you'd have to figure out the point cost for your normal melee attack and then figure out how much adding link would cost, which is a bit of a hassle) for +10%, or for +20% you can use the knockback without needing to slam. So yeah, follow-up seems like it'd work better. |

I hadn't thought of that, good point. And you're welcome :-)

Part of the intended effect is that the Cinematic Slam does not inflict damage on the attacker making the slam. The 2 FP cost is intended to limit the frequency of usage.
The effect is intended to model two types of situations. 1. Big ass war golems body checking other golems out of the way or sending other units flying. (This one should probably be linked to a traditional slam type attack. But I do specifically want to not damage the attacker and not deal damage beyond the strenght of the attacker. 2. Special weapons quality (advantage with a gadget limitation.) that allows the model to make high powered attacks that will inflict far more knockback than size and strenght would indicate. I do like the idea of linking it to a punch but did not read the link enhancement as working that way. |
