Good Day, Munchkinics:
I had something happen at this past GenCon that I would like to ask about. While playing in a preliminary round of the Munchkin World Cup, I was told all promo items would be useable. During a particularly heated combat early in the card I attempted to use a bookmark. I believed I was using it correctly, but my opponents were not familiar with this item. To be fair we called a friendly MIB in to settle the dispute. When I showed the MIB the bookmark I was going to activate, he informed me this particular item had been banned from tournament use. Now, I have no problem with this ruling. I know this MIB and have been in events he has run before, so I know he knows the rules and was not just yanking my chain. I was satisfied with his answer and explaination why, we went on about the game, and I proceeded to win anyway in an extremely satisfying manner (but that is another story;). So here come the questions: what promo items have been banned from tournaments? Is there a list somewhere? As I stated, I have no problem with this instance and now know about this item, but are there others that should be avoided? What about promo items made under european licenses, like Pegasus and Q-Workshop, in U.S. tournaments and vice versa? As always, all help is greatly appreciated.

I thought we made it clear some time back that the Munchkin Cthulhu Bookmark of Udder Ridiculousness, where you place the bookmark in a Mythos book, is extremely broken for tournament purposes. That's the only one I can think of right off the top of my head.

Points to the master as he gets the bookmark correct, and nails the dismount.
I guess I missed the announcement about that one, but you can ask my wife and she will agree I miss a lot ;) Thanks for the input, Erik.

Okay now, just so I am clear (you have met me Erik, you know I ask a lot of questions) are licensed promo items from Europe like Pegasus and Q-Workshop good in United States tournaments and our items good for theirs? I have seen many Wicked Munchkin Dice used in tournaments so I am assuming Q-Workshop is okay, but I know what happens when I assume. Better to ask and know then be depending on an item at a tournament and be told "so sorry but..."

We were actually working on that not all that long ago. I allow the Q-Workshop stuff because they are available worldwide and through W23. I typically don't allow "foreign" promo Items from the other distributors, however, in part because it's sometimes hard to get a good translation for them, and, to be honest, they're hard to get in the states.
