I've posted before that I am of the mind that certain expansions just don't seem to stand well alone (Impossible IMHO) and must be mixed with stronger expansions (Super Munchkin, to be sure).
This is a polling thread of which Munchkin Expansions have mixed well n your experience, and PLEASE elaborate as to why. I'll start: I really enjoy Super Munchkin and Munchkin Booty. They balance well and there are so many common themes. I do find it weird that Booty is the expansion of the 2 that actually has ships... |

Cthulhu and Bites. Both have great senses of humor, inter mixed with some great monsters and weird powers, madness and oh yeah, both make me munchy for some reason....

Before this gets too far into the weeds, I'd like to point out that the stand-alone sets (Booty, Super, etc.) are NOT expansions -- they're core sets in their own right. On occasion, we have called the non-fantasy core sets "sequels." Expansions are the packs like Unnatural Axe and Jump the Shark that can't be played on their own.
We've been consistent in this terminology, and I don't want anyone getting confused by your nonstandard usage, so I'm being Mr. Pedant today.

Well, some days, he's, "Just call me Andrew. Mr. Pedant is my father," but that day, he was claiming the title like Arthur pulling Excalibur from the stone. . .
In Andrew's honor, I'm going to "fix" the title. |

The last Munchkin game I played was Impossible Star Munchkin (plus the Clown Wars), and it worked quite well. The added Clown Wars cards made the balance a bit off, but we shuffled it in such a way that the top of the decks were about 50/50 Impossible/Star, with fewer Impossible cards lower down. There weren't many Race cards (a couple of Mutants, but that was about it), so a lot of the Star Munchkin monsters didn't get their bonuses (or penalties). Oh well.
I've not played many Blender games, though, so I can't really compare. But I really do want to try Firefly Munchkin (Star + GBM) some time. ~~~~~~~ As for Impossible on its own, I like it. It's not necessarily the version I would choose to play the most often, but it is a lot of fun by itself, and it may just be me but it has a refreshing style or vibe to it that sets it apart from the other Munchkins (it's a bit faster than others, too, especially when there is a Russian Overkilling with his GUAL cards). The only thing I feel it is lacking are "virtual Playboys" for British spies with no class card (that is, a reference card with the Playboy rules written on it); it's one of the main reasons I didn't play Impossible all that much in the past; anyone who is unfamiliar with the game won't have a clue what the Playboy does without the card to read.... but this is perhaps not the thread for that.

I second that sentiment. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who really digs Impossible. I'll tell you right here that its brilliant for indoctrinating non-gamers into Munchkin thanks to its theme.

the funny part is..my only issue with impossible is the same I have with GBM..not enough cards. :). I rediscovered this when playing Holiday edition, in which in a 6 player game I was reshuffling the deck 3-4 times because it was just that brutal.

Nope, both it and TGTBTM are two of my favorites honestly. That's why I desperately would love expansions. Too bad there's not enough love.
