My experience of EABA is a non-SJG playtest several years ago of a book that may or may not have gotten published.

I don't remember the title buit was set in a post-nanotech apoclaypse world. Extremely unrealistic nano, dull and gritty gameworld.

The primary threat seemed to be constant skin irritation as the nano ate the non-living layers of your epidermis and people tried to make clothing out of leftover fiberglass insulation because the nano ate everything else.

The extent of the kewl powerz was mostly some people mastering the nano enough to turn their hands into knives. <shrug> It either your own hand or chipped flint if you wanted a knife. I'd have rather turned the nano into a set of boots and a pair of cargo shorts but that wasn't an option.

I include this info on the gameworld to document any effect the setting might have had on my opinion of the system because that opinion was indifferent to negative.

There seemed to be no particular game mechanical virtue to justify the creation and use of the system. It was different from other systems but did not appear to do anything very well to me.

Even if I had come up with the "inspiration" for chafing world I wouldn't have bothered to do it in EABA over Gurps, HERO, BESM, Basic Roleplaying or even D20 though I think this test may have been before D20 (Gurps 4e too).

EABA? could you unabreviate? I often have experience with products but don't recognize their abreviation and suspect I'm not the only one.

I have a few supplements which I find very useful. The settings I know are nice, though I wouldn't use them as-is.

Especially Stuff! is prime gaming material, imo, and very usable for Gurps. Also, it's available on e23.

I know stuff and I find that GURPS probably needs an equivalent for some of its parts. However, it seems that EABA is based heavily on their equivalent of the Speed/Range Table, which means detail gets swept under the carpet too often.

I assume it is about equivalent to Fuzion in terms of [un]readyness to use out of the box - much more so than GURPS, yes?

Age of Ruin, 2005. As I recall, my big contribution was to show that the nanoclysm depicted would eventually result in all the Earth's carbon sequestered at the bottom of the oceans, and everyone dead. Greg chose to ignore that aspect.
