Skill for Melee Innate Attack with reach of greater than C

I find the description in the innate attack skill description unclear for the purposes of determining which skill should be used for melee innate attacks with reach of greater than C. It says:

You can only learn this skill for
ranged attacks. Use Brawling (p. 182)
to improve your odds with abilities
that require a touch.

It seems to me that a melee innate attack with a reach of greater than C is neither an ability requiring a touch nor a ranged attack... So, what skill do I use?

It's a special effect to swap one skill for another. So if your attack is a glowing energy sword, use Force Sword. If it's a long Impaling Attack, use Spear, and so on.
