I've found this huge crab picture. taking some notes from wiki this crab can be really interesting as an infestation. Its diet, quirks, and the potential devastation it can cause leaves little to the imagination. Did i mention the picture is freaky?
care to have a hand stating it. |

Damn... I knew about it, but reading the wiki article makes it so much more awesome...
Hmm... I can't help it but wanting to stat this as a character of some sort. Would be fun to play a sentient coconut crab, now wouldn't it? :D |

Terror [30] seems a given.

Haha :)
Well, I was reading the article and stumbled on moulting/ecdysis. It seems that they can regrow and regenerate body parts during this process. So, for fun and out of boredom, I'll try to stat this (I'm gonna go for a not-so-realistic theme, creating this more as a caricature - think Dr. Zoidberg!) :) I'm gonna go with the huge ones wiki noted, so that's a man-sized crab. SM 0 then. It's unusually strong, and looks resilient. Let's say ST20 [100] and HT12 [20], with DX8 [-40] and IQ... well, either animal IQ, or the sentient-character's-mind-transferred-into-this-body's IQ. Whatever. This one will have 10. ...DR10 [50] with Semi-Ablative (-20%) for the shell. Moulting can be activated, but usually only happens once a year. Regrowth [40] Minimum duration (1 week) -20%, Takes Recharge (10x) -30%, Preparation Required (1 hour) -50%, Switchable +10%, Temporary Disadvantage (Half DR, and the rest becomes Flexible) -25% (?). Any thoughts on how to represent the new shell hardening gradually? Regaining one DR every 5 days or so? So far, I think it's a pretty cool ability to have. :) Then, Extra Arms and Extra Legs are in order. Since the rear legs are basically cleaning arms with no other function, they won't count as legs/arms. It has four real legs though, so that's Extra Legs (four) [5], with the cannot kick (-50%) limitation. Then, it has two legs with small pincers. That's Extra Arms (two) [20] with the Foot Manipulator (-30%) limitation. The last set should just be a perk, really - A Pair of Cleaning Limbs [1]. They can't manipulate, attack, and are probably extremely weak - also, they are retractible. It has some sort of special breathing gills/lungs combo, allowing it to breathe air, but needs to moist it's air-gills regularly. It cannot survive very long underwater though. Doesn't Breathe (Gills, 12 hours max duration) [9], Dependency (Very Common (water), Hourly) [-20] It has Vibration Sense [10], Discriminatory Smell [15], Reduced Consumption (Cast Iron Stomach) [3], Short Lifespan 1 [-10], Numb [-20], Ham-fisted [-10], Nearsighted [-25] Racial Skills: +3 Climbing [6] And yeah, Terror [30] would be fitting for one of this size. :) |
