Hi all!
i'm a Italian Munchkin Player, so i hope you'll forgive some mistakes in my english here on italian munchkin forum we got a very hard question: one shot items hit a specific target? i'm arguing that one shot items, hitting either SIDE, don't give bonus specifically to a player or a monster, but instead it's a bonus to the side attacking (player/s) or defencing (monster/s).. this means that if a one-shot is played to help 2 monsters fighting a player, and if 1 of the monsters is made disappears, this bonus dont disappears with him, but it still stays, 'cause the SIDE of monsters (just 1, now) is still there. hope u will understand this messy post, and u'll find a light in this darkness :P Last edited by Uzi4U; 01-25-2009 at 05:31 PM. |

One shot items help a side.
Monster Enhancers enhance a specific monster. So if a Monster Enhancer is used on a monster and the monster is removed, the enhancer goes with it. The one shot item is not attached to any monster, so if you eliminate a monster, it does not go; the bonus remains.

Actually, I seem to recall a ruling that stated one-shots did get applied to a specific monster. I'm looking now...
EDIT: Found it, sort of. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/...d/message/8211 It's in regards to whether or not Mate would double a one-shot, and the answer is yes. This could not be if it wasn't played on a specific monster.

Also, since reading the list archives requires one to be subscribed to the list, it's probably better to excerpt the relevant post and quote it here than post a link that many people won't be able to use. The forums are readable whether one has subscribed or not.

So, a scenario: I'm a Wizard in combat against one monster and a +3 one-shot is played on the monster's side. I charm the monster and another player wanders in a new monster. Keeping in mind that most Munchkin cards are written assuming One Munchkin/One Monster per combat, did the +3 disappear when I charmed the original monster or did it hang around to give its bonus to the new monster? Historically, I've played it as the one-shot is gone.
