Default d10 Powers and changing Class

If you change your class in combat after using a d10 power, does the power remain in effect? For instance, a Warrior encounters the Shrieking Geek. He makes his d10 roll and gets his +5, then changes his class to Cleric so he can easier defeat the Geek. Does he keep his +5?

I can't see why not, partially based on how Phil answered that particular question, but I need to look at the card again, to be sure.

Page 15, second paragraph under Class, "You gain the abilities of a Class the moment you put it in play, and lose them as soon as you discard it."

If you discard the Warrior card before the fight is over, you no longer have the ability that gives you +5.

The issue that comes into play here is a familiarity with Munchkin, where certain abilities, once "paid for," continue to work, even after a Class change (Cleric's Turning ability and Warrior's Berserking abilities are perfect examples). Munchkin has the same rule, concerning losing or adding a class, so depending on the wording of the power, I know many people are going to infer that behavior.

Sorry for digging up an old thread. Actually I'm working on a compilation of officially answered questions, which I'll post when I'm finished.

I'm either getting two different answers here, or not reading it right. Does the +5 continue to work (once paid for) after losing the warrior, or not? It looks like Munchkin Man is correcting O'Keefe, but I'd just like to be sure that's resolved.

Sorry for my confusion - thanks for the help!

Will posted the original intent, which was that you only gain a class d10 benefit while you still have the class. I believe that later rulings than this one have said that you can get the +5 for being a Warrior, swap that for Wizard, and try to double a Magic item as well. I'm loath to discard designer's/developer's intent, so for now, this question is unresolved.

p. 15 explicitly says you can discard a Class card to power its own ability. That seems to imply that the ability persists.
