Dirty Rotten So-And-So: When Bad Stuff happens to a non-Outlaw, go up a level.
Does this mean only when Bad Stuff has an actual effect on the player (ie., "Lose you headgear", "Damn, there goes my Horny Helmet") or whenever Bad Stuff occurs, regardless of whether or not it has an actual effect (ie., "Lose you headgear", "...well, I'm not wearing any!")? I'm thinking the former, to coincide with Schadenfreudian Slip (I believe that's what the 'Slip says) but just checking.

"Bad Stuff" means the Bad Stuff effect of a monster.

i think if the monster catches you at all, then it applies. after all, if you are sex changed, and level 1, and your next fight is plutonium dragon, you still get rif of your -5 combat penalty, even if you walk past the dragon nonchalently and the combat just ends. bad stuff has still happened - it just didn't do anything. at least, thats my £0.0102732

However, I think your logic is a bit off regarding "will not pursue", Bazz (unless I'm reading this wrong). "Will not pursue" equates to "don't bother rolling the dice, you're not worth it." Bad Stuff only happens if you fail your Run Away roll. Even if you can't defeat/kill a monster, if you fall below its pursue threshold then Bad Stuff doesn't happen at all because you don't have to roll. (That is, of course, unless someone plays that awesome new "Yum Yum" card.) So, losing to a monster that "Will not pursue" you should not trigger the Outlaw ability.* *I think that's kind of what you were getting at, but I'm not sure. If I've just pointed out the obvious based on a misinterpretation of your comment, then ignore this. ;-)

I agree with the consensus. The Outlaw gets the level even if the Bad Stuff is negligible to the player running away.

Another question regarding the Outlaw's feature:
What if two munchkins fight a monster... Does the outlaw gain 2 levels, if both munchkins are suffering from Bad Stuff? |

I once rocketed to 8th Level that way (gained the 8th by helping to kill off a munchkin with that annoying Horse With No Name), took the Horse With No Name, became a Cowboy, and won the next turn at 9th Level. Yeah, there's a reason I get ganged up on when I play.
