Dear all,
Reading the Telescan psionic power (Psionic Powers p67) leaves me with some unanswered questions on range and targeting : First of all, it says "For all power levels, success gives you a “lock” on the subject, allowing you to use further telepathic abilities on him at no penalty." => Do I understand well that this means if another telepathic ability is used on the target, there are absolutely zero range penalties? Second of all, the Omniscan technique says that the power "can scan for any minds nearby". What does nearby mean? Is Omniscan limited in range compared to the base power? Or does it use the same range penalties according to level? Thanks in advance for your help. |

Hi,
Lock remove penalties for using abilities blindly, its lock-on enhancement for detect. Page 14. Range penalties still apply For Omniscan, it uses range penalties from telescan, so normal distance modifiers for first two levels, long ranged for 3 and 4, and no penalties for 5 level |

Thanks Flowergarden for the quick and detailed reply.
Can you point me to the rules for "blind use". What is the modifier? |

It's penalty for not seeing or touching the target, -5.
Maledictions are treated as a regular spells (but with different distance penalties) as per p.106 Basic. Rules for regular spells are on p.239 of Basic or p.11 of Magic. |
