Hi, I’m new to this game, and I would like to test it online. Maybe some simulator, like Fantasy Grounds, or maybe just Discord if that’s a good alternative.
Does anyone know about that? |

Roll20, Foundry or Maptools work great
Discord and IRC work great if not as interested in maps |

Thanx!
How can I find a group to play with? Are there any groups looking for players around here? |

There is a GURPS discord but finding totally new players online is a pain...
You aren't allowed to share pdfs and there is no reference document anywhere, so your players are expected to shell out for the books themselves in order to play with you. The acronym DFRPG is shared with the Dresden files rpg, I've had more than one person ask me why I was trying to run dungeon crawls with that system! There's basically 0 english-language DF sessions or guides on YT (compare that to the hundreds of D&D) and the ones that say they are are usually running their own weird hybrid games, so there are no good examples to point to and say 'thats what this game is like' aside from Felltower (and people prefer audio content over actually having to read stuff). |

Expy perhaps makes it sound a bit worse than it is.
Book sharing is forbidden. However, the PDFs aren't that expensive if you want them, and there are other ways to get playing without owning the books. There are a few DF videos on YouTube, notably by the Olympus RPG Group. There are also a few other GURPS videos, and since the two systems are 98% identical, it's not so bad. Finding new games IS a pain, but that's true anywhere, for any system, on any medium. I just recently added two players to my DFRPG game (sorry, we're now full). So, it's not impossible -- you just have to lurk until a game you want pops up. Or offer to run your own, of course. There are always more players than GMs. |
