Matching Equipment Set and Exploding Kneecaps

Hello.

I have following queistion: is the Matching Equipment Set (treasure card from Munchkin 8 expansion pack) affected by the Exploding Kneecaps curse?
As far as I understand, the set fills every gear slot and thus should be affected by any curse or bad stuff that target worn equipment.
In this context, can a Munchkin wear 2 items on his knees, without help from cheat or other cards?

For your second question: "Knees" are not a slot, only Headgear, Footgear, Armor, and two Hands, so there should be no limit to amount of "kneewear" items you can equip.
