So as I mentioned in the main forum, I am beginning work on a reproduction of the 1979 TSR, B2 Keep on the Boarderlands Caves of Chaos map in The Fantasy Trip Megahexes, using AutoCad
I will post my progress here, but I won't be able to share images of the work because I am sure that would violate the copy right However, by calling my map Caverns Where Chaos Reigns I hope to at least not get into any troube talking about it. If I am wrong, well, I hope I'm not wrong To begin, in the next post I will explain how I set up the Limits, Units, and Layers for the project. I will be 55 years old in October and I swear I have not felt this inspired to create games and game accessories since I was fourteen years old. Thank you |

Using two versions of AutoCad, so things are often a bit of a struggle
In my 2004 version Units are Feet, with Decimal type. I wont need a grid for this one so I'll leave it off, set to 5 feet snap points, and 25 foot grid lines Limits - are set to 800 feet (x) and 500 feet (y) - the original caves of chaos map is about 740 feet x 470 feet (weird right?) Ill be drawing Megahexes using a four foot hex base. I'll start with just five layers, and add others when the project is closer to being completed Layer 01 Text (red) Layer 07 Insert Images (color 7) Layer 08 Measure Marker (color 08) Layer 09 Measure Reference (color 09) Layer 164 Megahex (color 164) I will usually lock and turn off the measure marker and measure reference layers and only turn them on when I am checking the distance between objects Everything about the cavern maps will be drawn on madel space, to scale |

Okay so the first caverns, "A" are almost done
I've now decided to add new layers, creating a new subset of ten layers in my drafting standards, to allow "Labyrinth Hexes" of different elevations to be shown on a single map. Last edited by Terquem; 09-04-2018 at 11:31 AM. Reason: NOW with less pontificating |
