I have seen this on reddit where people are saying that if someone plays a "lose a small item" curse, that it has to be in play, not from you hand. Also that cards in your hand "don't exist" till you play them?? If the card doesn't say specifically "choose one small item in play" and just says "choose one small item" you can discard a small item from your hand, correct?

Cards in your hand are just "Cards". They are not considered "Items" until they are in play. So, no, you cannot curse a card in your hand unless the curse card specifies it may target a card in your hand.

That is, in fact, directly stated in the rules.

The Rules specifically say you can play one-shots from your hand.
There is no point in resurrecting an 8-year-old topic to debate a curse rule we are discussing in a more-recent topic. |

I agree with the responses.
That said, I'm playing Munchkin Digital and an AI opened a door to reveal the "curse: lose a small item", I saw 0 in his Pack (in play) and yet he discarded a card (which appeared to be from his hand). Perhaps the computer had already reduced his "pack" count to 0 when I saw that number. All I can say is that it looked like the card came from his hand. |
