sending monster to self

Hello all. I'm new to the munchkin game and my son and I are playing when he threw down a monster to double up on his own monster. can this be done?

The only way to add a monster to a fight is if they are both Undead (or using similar rules from other sets) or with a Wandering Monster card. It is legal to add a monster to your own fight by either of these methods.
