Indian and Cowboy

As this is the only post in the forum that contains the word "cowboy," may I ask my Good/Bad/Munchkin question here as well?

I'm an Indian with a steed who killed his way to level 9. I pick up a Cowboy class card, which can win if I have a steed and kill something to reach level 9. Can I replace Indian with Cowboy and immediately win? Or do I have to be a Cowboy at the moment I hit level 9?

Moved your post into a new thread, since the question was unrelated to the other posts.

You were an Indian, not a Cowboy, when you killed the monster, so you cannot retroactively use the Cowboy ability.
