Sorry for posting so soon after my previous post. In the case of a card like Laughing Gas that can allow 2 munchkins auto escape, can this card be played after one munchkin fails to run away and before the other one attempts, or can it be played after they both attempt to run away, or does the munchkin with the dual auto escape card have to play it before any of them attempt to run? Thanks!
-Banban P.S. If there are cards similar to Laughing Gas in that both munchkin escape but have different applications as to when they can be played, please confirm them. I remember there was a brick wall card in the Munchkin Fantasy core set(newest edition) that had a similar effect, but I can't recall what it is called... |

The card says it must be used during combat, which ends before the players begin Running Away. Thus it can't be used in that manner. It has to be played before the munchkins win or lose the combat.
There are some other cards with different effects that could potentially be played after the combat ends but before some of the monsters have been evaded, where the player could wait for the other player to make his Run Away attempts before playing the card. It should be fairly clear on the card when they can and can't be played. |

Alright. So then it's safe to say that once one munchkin runs away from a monster, the combat phase ends for both players, removing the oppurtunity for the 2nd player to play his laughing gas. Is that a correct interpretation?

Not quite. Once the main combatant (not the helper) decides he cannot win the battle, he declares he loses, which is the event which ends the combat. It is then too late to play cards that can only be played during combat, such as Laughing Gas and Wandering Monster.

Can the Instant Wall card in the original Munchkin be used to just let one player escape, and not another? So if I somehow forced someone to help me in combat, then Instant Wall-ed myself and didn't want it to apply to them, does it?

I believe the player of the card is allowed to choose which munchkins are aided by the Instant Wall. That would make your scenario work fine, provided you aren't beating the monster with your helper.
