Deep in a game of three players, using Munchkin sets 1 thru 4 (plus a few boosters), I played Generic on the monster Katrina. Here is what ensued.
I lost to the Generic Katrina, thus all my items were blown away. Generic reads, DO NOT POST CARD TEXT. Our interpretation was: -Bad Stuff effects me (since I just lost the fight) -and then on the next player's Door Kick, the Generic Katrina would act as the Kick (with all of the Katrina and Generic text applying to this new player's fight) First, is this the right interpretation? Should the Generic be applied in this way? Second, if we are interpreting correctly, then our game hit a wall. The Generic Katrina hit all three of us, blew all of our items (and classes) away, and just continues to be the kick. None of us had a card in hand to "take care" of the Generic Katrina. So... is it possible to create a monster too powerful to beat? What does a game do in a situation of an infinite loop like this? Last edited by Andrew Hackard; 05-27-2013 at 03:06 PM. |

There is nothing saying you have a finish a game if you reach a point where a monster appears to be unbeatable or it ceases to be fun for everyone. Sometimes, the answer is to call it a night.

Heh, just making sure we got Generic right.
It sure was an epic ending. We even debated calling upon the Munchkinomicon to slay the beast. |

I was under the impression that the cards like Generic brought back the monster in addition to the card you drew when you Kicked Open the Door, not replacing the draw. I think you got that part wrong.
With this, you would have hope of finishing the game. Somebody would have Wizard and three other cards in their hand at some point and would be able to play it within the combat and immediately Charm the Generic Katrina away. |

Yeah, but who knows how long before someone draws a Wizard? I'd probably just call it a night instead of going turn after turn waiting for someone to get lucky, haha.

There's plenty of other Doors that could end that battle. And somebody is bound to die soon enough from another monster, so you'd have a way to get Treasure too. I don't think it would take too long, really.
