Reading about the various
Astronaut Groups to make sure that I'm using astronauts who would be available at the time (a lot of the earlier ones retired before 1973) can be pretty interesting. Reading about
Group 3 was a bit of a shock, though: Along with Roger Chaffee, who died in the Apollo 1 fire, there were three that you might never have heard of, because Charles A. Bassett II, Theodore C. Freeman, and Clifton C. Williams all died in T-38 crashes.
