Arguably, because you want to continue controlling the object, so you wouldn't use the full amount of strength available to you.

I realized I amended my previous post right before you posted this. But, I don't think they should, necessarily, do
more damage, but they should do damage
better. Removing the to-hit penalty is a big step in that direction, as is the ability to have types of damage that inflict more injury after armor.
