Default Re: Looking for OGRE players greater Portland OR area

For the thousands waiting with 'bated breath to learn how this turned out, I am happy to inform you it was a smashing success. Two very rusty players ran a game of Ceasefire Collapse on a miniatures table at Mox and had a good time.

Here is the starting position: (edit: it seems postimg hotlinks don't show as images, sorry about that)

We didn't put up a screen because we were just relearning the game, and we also didn't try too hard to optimize our setups against what we could see of the other player. We both put both CPs separate, and had GEVs in the south and tanks in the north. The chief difference is that Combines had a force of heavies while Paneuros had two MHWZ, as compared to Combines' single HWZ on the island.

(PS that is fried calamari on the left, standard Paneuropean rations)

First engagements:

GEVs tussled in the south before retreating, while tank forces made contact in the north. Paneuros were bloodied in both encounters, with the HWZ claiming a scalp.

Further moves:

Paneuros started to move the northern MHWZ into battle, while the southern GEV forces played cat and mouse.

Critical shot (not actually shown):

The critical moment of the game came when the Combines sent a MSL forward on a suicide mission to take a shot at the northern MHWZ. The MSL crew rolled a six on a 1-1 attack, taking out the MHWZ and crippling the Paneuro northern offensive. The MSL was eliminated immediately after - this photograph is after both shots were taken, we forgot to capture the actual action - but they went to Valhalla as heroes, having given their all for the Motherland.

Endgame:

When the remaining Paneuro MHWZ moved north to counter the tanks, Combine GEVs rolled up the southern front . After the Paneuro infantry was mopped up in the forests the remaining Paneuro armor was pincered in a city redoubt and slowly reduced, but not before eliminating the entire Combine HVY force and a couple of LGEVs.

That was that, both sides gave a good account of themselves, and further matches are on the menu. We also discussed reviving some other old micros so if anyone is interested let us know.
