Alternately he's derived from the Grand Grimoire, though apparently only the makers of Shin Megami Tensei noticed.
(I was playing the two translated SNES titles when I got into In Nomine; the series has a record of very good research for the mythological monsters they include. Not great source material for bright or high-contrast In Nom though, as they make a point of treating the Angel and Seraph clans as being just another type of demon.)
