Re: [OCC] Lost in Dreams
Melissa Moon
Background
Spoiler:
Melissa Moon is a 21 year old, bright and diligent 3rd year college student at Caltech majoring in history and minoring in aerospace engineering. She would have majored in engineering but then she couldn’t have taken a minor, she is planning to go for a masters in aerospace engineering.
Physically Melissa is a healthy, very attractive young woman of mixed Korean and ”white” descent. 5’8”, black mid-back-length straight hair, light brown eyes that have a bit of a puppy dog look, light skin (level of tan depends on where and when her last camping trip was). Her voice is remarkably clear and pleasant, giving the impression that she is an expert in whatever she talks about. Growing up her parents’ worldview (which she assumed) kept her from thinking of “attractive” as part of her character. Now she is uncomfortable with her sexuality, reacts (at best) awkwardly to compliments, and has never had a boyfriend.
She enjoys fantasy and science fiction books, movies, and television. She played water polo in high school but never got very into it. She would probably enjoy role playing games but the group she approached about learning dnd when she was in high school were creepy and the gaming club on campus is insular and uninviting. She does play board and console games with her roommates.
She was born and raised in Sacramento California. Her mother is an american of nondescript western european descent who is a moderately successful mystery writer. Her father is a 2nd generation Korean-American who works as a high school physics teacher. Both enjoy camping and hiking and have shared that love with Melissa, who now also does a bit of rock climbing.
She has very good relationships with her parents and some of her friends dating back to middle school. She gets on well with her classmates, roommates, and teachers. Her parents and scholarships are paying her way through college but she also works as a math tutor on campus. Ostensibly because it will “look good on her resume” and for extra pocket money but really because she loves math and loves helping people.
