Thatīs right, but there is a big catch, since you need electromagentism and a lot of it to launch grenades or propell bullets, you can use that pulse to find the exact spot where the weapon stands. Even a smartphone or a walkie talkie can be measured and found with great precission, now think how big the impuls of a gauss weapon is! So you have a clear launch signature once you fire.
