Its 1/2D is close to what you'll get with a sling (which would be more Archer than Light Infantry), although it seems to be more often used in throwing-weapon range (which would be more Light Infantry than Archer). I'd say the rank-and-file Jaffa in the
Stargate series are arguably more akin to light infantry than archery, engaging at close range with a mix of ranged and melee, although a lot of that might just be due to the cinematic nature of the show.
