Evidence that would stand up to outside skeptics or scientific analysis in sterile labs has been surprisingly sparse, even after the Queen's Paranormal Rangers mounted the first of their covert operations against supernatural foes within Britain in 2005. Most of the danger to innocent people is posed by one or more of: humans meddling in magic that left little trace in the physical world; beings of pure spirit who influenced or possessed humans; more powerful spirits able to envelop themselves in a corporeal body or strange creatures from one or more alternate dimensions, spiritual realms or sidereal realities that are usually refered to as Elsewhere or the Otherworld.*

When defeated, spirits with corporeal bodies leave behind a normal corpse or whatever other physical matter they used to construct their shells. This tends to be whatever was lying around where they manifested or in extreme cases might be nothing more than moisture from the surrounding air, dust or earth. In any case, nothing left behind by spiritual foes amounts to anything that wasn't on the scene before.

Creatures from Elsewhere tend to fade back out of existence when killed, as if their presence in this world required a powerful exercise of will and magic. Even the bodies of those that don't immediately dissappear nevertheless eventually fade away once they are taken away from whatever area of strong supernatural forces that allowed them to cross over from the Otherworld. Many also disappear with the dawn.

It's not bodies of supernatural foes that the Rangers have to worry about, it's the humans. If they kill humans, it means a murder investigation and if they don't, it means being left with a victim or even perpetrator of a paranormal attack to worry about. In general, the Rangers leave innocent victims behind on the scene if it looks like their injuries are not immediately life-threathening, usually arranging to have an ambulance called to the scene. How the victims explain what happened to them is their concern, as the Shadow Court is not intrinsically opposed to the secret of the paranormal existing coming out in a way that does not also expose the existence of the Queen's conspiracy.

Victims which require immediate first-aid to survive or are in need of medical assistance that can only be provided by someone aware of the supernatural, however, will inevitably learn more than they should. Such accidents have happened several times since 2005 and with the increasing pace of operations, they are happening several times a year now. Usually, a combination of drugs**; crisis scene managment to minimise what they see and hear; and magical manipulation of memories are used to make their testimony harmless to the Shadow Court. In several cases, this has not been found to be possible with sufficient reliability and the person has instead been recruited***.

People who are less victims than they are perpetrators of atrocities are often subjected to similar treatment to make their memories unreliable, but instead of being left somewhere, they are instead found a place within a psychiatric institute with which the Court has an arrangment, a senior member being a member of the board. Magicians or spiritualists too dangerous for that are instead simply killed, with the murder becoming one more odd unsolved crime file to baffle the police.

*Those who believe that there are many Otherworlds may refer to ones that yield creatuers fitting certain legends by a name from the mythology that it most resembles, calling the various worlds by such names as Faerie, Hell, Gehenna, Hel, Summerlands, Dreamworld and so on.
