A complicated road to start down because you'll have your runner acceleratign more in the seconds later until he's hitting speeds not possible for the simple Gurps "sprint" model. Even that " average 18 year old fit for military service" will be doing more than 5 or even 6 yards per second.
After that you'll probably have to try and fix the distance running rules. :)
