Multiple Level Counters?
I was wondering if it is legal to use both the iPhone app and a physical level counter to get both bonuses?

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
No. One level counter per player.

Related Question: If we're playing a version with a board/playmat (where no bonus is given) - we can still use the phone app for a bonus, right?

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
Bonus or no bonus, a mat that tracks Level is a Level Counter, so I don't allow people to use the Level Counter app (which is on Android as well, by the way) when I'm using a mat, unless Andrew can provide a compelling reason to dissuade me from that practice.

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
I have no problem allowing people to use a level counter that gives a bonus if the group is using one that does not, but I think it's also important to point out that the group tracker is the official one, not the individual tracker.

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
What about the bonus counters for Level Playing Field/Board of Health? If everyone gets one, do they also get to use the app's bonus? Or do they get to choose one or the other?

Makes sense to me. Thanks for the answer.

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
Let me make sure I get this straight:
Players may only use a single personal level counter with or without the use of a group level counter. If a group level counter is being used, then it is the official counter for the purpose of the game. If two counters are being used and there is an applicable bonus with both counters, the player using multiple counters must decide at the start of the game which bonus he or she wishes to apply. Is that correct? You didn't specify that the player cannot switch back and forth between bonuses as he/she wants (for example, pulling a boon that doesn't really do much, so swapping over to the Level Playing Field Bonus, but then another players gets into a combat where the one-shot boon comes in handy, so swaps again...), but I assume that was understood... correct me if I'm wrong. :D |
Re: Multiple Level Counters?
I'm pretty sure you have to decide which level counter bonus you're using at the start of the game. That means either the board bonus, or the boon (whatever it ends up being).

Re: Multiple Level Counters?
I would assume that as well... but this *is* Munchkin. If it isn't explicitly stated, someone will try it. ;)
