A One Shot Items Question
I thought I saw this in a thread once but wasn't sure. Can you put one shot items (like the Cotion of Ponfusion, Pretty Balloons, etc) In Play? Obviously, then your opponents could see you have them, but that might be better than giving them up as Charity to another player. This could help my friends and I play a faster game (we like to play while we're on our lunch break at work, but one of my co-workers doesn't read his card text until he has to get rid of them).

Re: A One Shot Items Question
Yes, as far as I can tell, this has always been allowed. In my games, we usually put the cards sideways, like unused weapons, to signify they're a bunch of potions or what not that we're "carrying on our belt."

Re: A One Shot Items Question
The parts of the rules that allow you to do this is are, "You may carry any number of small items," and, "You can also use one-shot items that you
already had in play." All one-shot Items are small, so they can all be put in play to be carried. It's up to you whether you keep them upright or sideways, but MunchkinMan usually recommends keeping them upright as you are able to use them. I do this and separate the cards from the ones I need to tally for combat strength. |
Re: A One Shot Items Question
BTW, something that I don't know whether we've ever explicitly addressed: your cards in play should always be visible. I've seen some players put their sideways cards in a stack, and that's technically not kosher. The other players should always be able to tell what you have on the table, as it might inform their strategy. If space is limited, you can overlay them so only the titles are showing, but you must also be willing to read or show any of those cards (and all cards in play, actually) to another player who wants to know what it is.
If you want to keep some cards secret, keep them in your hand. |
Re: A One Shot Items Question
Thanks for the clarification. My fiance and I played this way last night, and she put her Pretty Balloons In Play and then whenever we would think about sabotaging her she would ask, "Do you really want me to bust out my Pretty Balloons?" Haha. I love this game!
