Again, that doesn't fit my character concept. Leon's master is meant to be very stingy- he doesn't pay his employees more than a small wage (which is Leon's motive for striking out on his own in the first place).

Sounds like a good enough reason to me. Now we wait for the GM to ring in on the matter :-)

Hm, yes, I see... well, the thing is, all of your masters are, as of moment, Filthy Rich. The money they earned from their latest adventure is enough to fund a whole city of 100,000 for about a month.

And since you all pretty much live somewhere near your masters or at their habitat, your cost of living has been taken care of.

You may decide, if you want, to have the meoney you receive sent to your poor family and sacrifice yourself, regardless of the wage you get every time you travel with your master.

That would be the only explainable reason for taking Wealth (Struggling). You would start with $750, then. And this went on for some time, you sent your family money over and over, but it's never enough to make them live a life without labour. Yes, the letters you received from them state that the life has been more comfortable since they started receieving money, but they still have to wake up early and work all day.

How does that sound?

Not quite what I had in mind, but I could go with that. Leon is burdened by his sense of duty to his family, and a 'tax' on his income occurs from his loot as a share is sent back to them.

I got some work done on my character. Even got a picture put up.

Even though there is no such thing as too much comic relief, expect a rather serious game. Your characters do not know each other that much, you could have travelled together with your masters and made acquintances, but no more than that.

It is up to you to decide how you arranged the meeting. All of you arranged it together, someone (or more someones) had an idea and sent a letter to the others.

It's up to you guys to work this detail out.

I'm done with the story, I guess the material I wrote would suffice for at least 2 irl sessions.

Two things:

1- This doesn't mean you're railroading us, does it? Even if the adventures are set up, we at least have complete free will as to how to go about them, right?
(Also, I have no desire to play in rigged games with fudged rolls or any other means of guarenteeing PC victory)

2- I don't have GURPS Low Tech. Perhaps somebody could help me out with weapons and armor? I know I plan to put most of my money into a broadsword combined with armour, but not sure beyond that.

(As a minor point, Ida has only three quirks. Quirks worth -2 points are disadvantages and do not count as quirks)

No, the only things used as a starting setup is what I mentioned with this tavern. That is where the game starts, and playing this game takes into account that you accepted the call and went to "Strucky Luck". Just like any other game intro.

However, you will pretty much mould your own adventure. You'll have a lot of options on what to do as new adventurers and you'll go wherever you guys (as a group) decide. I made a rough sketch of things going on around lately in the ingame world, and depending on your choice, I'll just enhance your choice with details. No railroading, don't worry :)

So, you'd like a help with Low-Tech? Alright, then. Tell me what kind of weapons and armor would you like and I'll craft something for you.

For a weapon, anything that's at least decent will do- Leon will actually use his broadsword only as a weapon of last resort.

For armour, Leon heavily leans towards Prevents Damage in the tradeoff between that and mobility constriction. The aim is to protect his fragile body from as much of the attacks coming at him as possible.

If you start off with Wealth: Struggling, I highly doubt you'll have enough money for both broadsword AND some decent armor, unless they're of cheap quality. Either spend some points on signature gear or rethink this decision, because a standard Longsword would cost you $700, $420 if Cheap (more chance to break) or Unbalanced (-1 to skill). Heavy Leather would cost you some $200 for whole torso, and weight 20 lbs, having 3 DR. Leggings would cost the same, arms would cost you some $100 and weigh 10 lbs. In any case, it would be a bit heavy, and the whole Heavy Leather suit would probably climb up to some $600 of price.

This is why I left people with $1500 as starting money instead of regular $1000, due to the prices of Low-Tech.

I could make you some crazy hybrid armour, though, with Heavy Leather protecting vital points such as torso, neck, groins and arms, while everything other could be made of cheap and light Padded Cloth. ($50 for whole torso, 6 lbs heavy, 1 DR.)

Maybe I'll discard the Broadsword for the time being and simply go for the most effective armour I can get with the remaining money, then.

(BTW, thanks for the help)
